This past weekend I had the opportunity to work with a very talented artist who some of you may, or may not know as "Chance the Rapper". Pitchfork describes his recent album, Acid Rap as, "...not trying to be an alternative; it’s an attempt to encompass everything. There are shout outs, musical or lyrical, to practically every important Chicago tradition short of Thrill Jockey. It invites elements of classic soul, juke, gospel, blues-rock, drill, acid jazz, house, ragtime scat , and R. Kelly, Twista, and a young Kanye to the same open mic poetry night"
Rolling Stones also reports that, "it’s the density of wit, ideas, and verbal invention that makes this one of the year’s defining hip-hop releases".
Jokingly giving Chance a hard time I said, "I wont listen to your album unless it's thought provoking and has an impeccable beat". He then promised me in an even tone with effortless confidence, and it is true that, "it will blow your mind".
I not only encourage you can listen to and download Chances new album, Acid Rap but I IMPLORE you.
